Students visit the OXY Technical Gases plant in Velika Gorica

On 11 May 2026, students of the Production of Technical Gases course visited the OXY Technical Gases plant in Rakitovac, Velika Gorica. The course is taught by Assistant Professor Hrvoje Mikulčić, and the visit was led on site by plant manager Marin Antunović.

Students saw the plant’s air separation unit (ASU) in operation, following the full process of separating atmospheric air into oxygen, nitrogen and argon, from compression and purification through to cryogenic distillation and storage.

What the visit covered

• Cryogenic air separation and the thermodynamic cycles behind it
• Compression, purification and distillation stages of the ASU
• Storage, safety and quality control in technical gas production

Field visits like this are a regular part of the specialisation, giving students direct contact with the industry they will work in.
