PowerLab marks its opening with partners and colleagues

On Monday, 5 October 2026, PowerLab, the Smart Energy Systems Laboratory at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, celebrated its opening with a ceremony.

The opening ceremony, held in the HEP Hall at FSB, was attended by representatives of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, the Croatian Academy of Engineering, the University of Zagreb and industry, together with many teachers, researchers, students and partners.

With the opening of PowerLab, FSB further strengthens its research and teaching capacity in smart energy systems, renewable energy integration, the digitalisation of energy and the development of advanced technologies for a sustainable energy transition.

PowerLab provides modern research infrastructure for developing and testing new solutions for the energy systems of the future, and for applying them in student education and professional training. Particular emphasis is placed on connecting research, education and industry, and on encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration.

Through its work, the laboratory will contribute to the knowledge and technologies needed to meet the challenges of the energy transition, and further position FSB as an important partner in developing sustainable and smart energy solutions.
